Brief History of Performance Enhancing Drugs in Sport

Monday August 30, 2004
It is now a matter of record that the systematic use of performance enhancing drugs in sport for more than 50 years has punted performance standards clear out of sight, so far out of sight that no human can attain them without chemical assistance. The magnitude of the benefit available from drugs was suggested in a secret East German report compiled by the STASI (secret police) in 1968, long before doping expertise reached its peak. In this report, Dr. Manfred Hoeppner, East Germany's Chief Medical Officer, recommended the universal administration of steroids to East German athletes. Over the next 20 years, the drug-fueled East Germans wrought havoc upon the record books. (Charlie Francis, bobozone.com)

i think that performance enhancement drugs in sports should be left alone to the athletes. if the athlete wishes to take it then it is their choice as these athletes have been using every which way possible to get ahead ever since the olympics started 108 years ago e.g heroine during long boxing bouts that lasted all day. and hallucigenic mushrooms for runners to keep their energy up. or have one olympics for and one olympics without substance the abuse. to seperate the good from the bad

There is one problem with seperatings those that use the substances and those that dont: the ones who do use them but do not admit it will try to go in the anti-substance olympics.
