L'Equipe is at it Again - Releasing Names Before A verdict on a Doping Test - This Time, it is Swimmer Ous Mellouli of Tunisia

Saturday April 21, 2007
I can't read French, but Sky News (Australia) and JOURNALO (Europe) are reporting that L'Equipe, a French paper that claimed Ian Thorpe failed a doping test, has released a story that Tunisian swimmer Ous Mellouli (800m World Champion and 400m Silver Medalist in Melbourne) failed a doping test (amphetamines) at a US swim meet in 2006. FINA has referred the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS); Mellouli claims he uses amphetamines to assist him in studying. I thought that doping test results were not announced until a failed test was confirmed, and then the announcement would come through legitimate channels, like FINA, not through the press?
