The OOOF Ball in action!
The OOOF Ball in action!
The OOOF Ball
Guide Rating -

How is your core body strength? What do you do to work on it? Do you use medicine balls in your training? If not, you may want to consider adding them. They are a great way to perform speed specific resistance exercises and develop core strength. This can result in improved performance. Using medicine balls can also add some variety and fun to usual routines. That can lead to increased enjoyment of workouts - and who doesn't want that to happen?

One new product on the market is the OOOF Ball. This solid (but bounce-able) medicine ball has been carefully designed and manufactured to insure long product life. It comes in a variety of weights (from 2 lb. to 9 lb.) and sizes. There is even a model with a built in rope for chopping and swinging rotational exercises.

NCAA Championships Coach Jack Bauerle uses the OOOF Ball with his athletes. Jack is a backer of the OOOF Ball, and for good reason. His swimmers have achieved great success, and he contributes part of this to their dryland work with the OOOF Ball.

The video "Out of the Water" features Coach Jack Bauerle and swimmers Kristy Kowal, Ed Moses, and Courtney Shealy using the OOOF Ball to perform exercises and drills to help their swimming specific strength, explosiveness, power and speed. In addition, Ed Moses shows some of the OOOF Ball techniques he utilizes in his training regimen.

There are a variety of routines that can include the OOOF Ball. Several sport-specific routines are available, and you can always develop your own. I suggest adding medicine ball training to your dryland work - and I have not seen a better version of the medicine ball than the OOOF Ball!
