On the last day of swimming competition at the National Aquatics Center, several first-time USA Paralympians hold the top seeds going into Monday's finals.

Susan Beth Scott (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cape Girardeau, Mo.) is seeded first (4:46.16) in the women's 400m freestyle (S10.) "It was a good morning swim," said Scott, who is competing in her first Paralympic Games. "I've dropped time in every race I've swum, so I am very happy about that. I'm just planning to do my best in the final, go out there and swim the race of my life."

U.S. teammates Ashley Owens (Stockbridge, Ga.) and rookie Anna Eames (Golden Valley, Minn.) will also be vying for a top spot on the podium. Owens, who holds the current world record (4:39.44) in the event, finished fourth in the heats with a time of 4:50.68; Eames finished seventh in 4:52.77.

"It is really good swimming with Ashley [Owens]. She is a great swimmer," said Scott. "I really respect her and it was good to have her there this morning.

On the men's side, two more first-time Paralympians are eyeing the medal stand. 15-year old Joe Wise (Menlo Park, Calif.) is seeded second (4:18.37) in the men's 400m freestyle (S10) and 18-year old Roy Perkins (Del Mar, Calif.) is seeded second (34.67) in the men's 50m freestyle (S5.) Perkins won gold and set the world record in the 50m butterfly (S5) earlier in the competition, while Wise will be competing in his first and only event of the meet.

Team USA will also be competing in both of Monday's relays. They enter the 20 point relay as the first seed, and the 34 point relay as the second seed.
