The top swimmer's results from the the 2008 Olympic Swimming Pool in Beijing for the 17 August 2008 Morning Session. History was made when the USA men won the 4x100 medley relay, earning Michael Phelps his 8th gold medal in one Olympics.

This is the final session from the swimming pool, with the 10k swim marathons scheduled for 20 and 21 August in the Beijing rowing basin.

    With the relay win by the USA, Michael Phelps won his 8th gold medal, the most ever in a single games; Phelps also has 16 life-time medals, the most of any Olympic swimmer. Dara Torres moved up to a tie for second of all US swimmers with 12 life-time Olympic medals (tied with swimmer Jenny Thompson). Natalie Coughlin is not far behind with 11.
