2008 Olympic Synchronized Swimming Dives in to Competition at the Water Cube

Duet Event Gets Underway August 18

After being the first athletes named to a 2008 United States Olympic Team for any sport, Christina Jones (Fremont, Calif.) and Andrea Nott (San Jose, Calif.) will make their Olympic Games debut on Monday, August 18. Synchronized swimming will kick off competition with the duet technical event beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Water Cube. Tuesday's action will feature the duet free routine which determines the 12 duets which will advance to the free routine finals, held on Wednesday.

The reigning Pan American Games Champions will look to improve upon their fourth place finish earned at the 2007 FINA World Trophy Cup and fifth place finish earned at the 2007 FINA World Championships. The pair will unveil a brand new technical routine to the theme of "Anger."

The team event will get underway on Friday, August 22 while the team free routine will be performed on Saturday, August 23. Members of the 2008 U.S. Synchronized Swimming Team include: Brooke Abel (Fallbrook, Calif.), Janet Culp (Littleton, Colo.), Kate Hooven (Pleasanton, Calif.), Christina Jones (Fremont, Calif.), Becky Kim (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Meghan Kinney (Mission Viejo, Calif.) Andrea Nott (San Jose, Calif.), Annabelle Orme (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Jillian Penner (Seattle, Wash.) and Kim Probst (Troy, N.Y.).
