Team USA Synchronized Swimming Floats in Fifth Place at Conclusion of Duet Tech

Duet Champion to be Crowned Wednesday at Water Cube

The duet of Christina Jones (Fremont, Calif.) and Andrea Nott (San Jose, Calif.) finished the technical portion of the duet competition in fifth place with a score of 95.500 today. Tuesday's action will feature the duet free routine which will be combined with fifty percent of today's score to determine the 12 finalists which will advance to the free routine finals, held on Wednesday.

Russia's Anastasia Davydova and Anastasia Ermakova took the top position after day one with a 98.667. Spain's Gemma Mengual and Andrea Fuentes finished full point behind with a mark of 97.667. The pair of Saho Harada and Emiko Suzuki of Japan maintained the third place position with a 96.500. China's Tingting and Wenwen Jiang currently sit in fourth place (96.167).

"We did everything we wanted to do in the pool," said Nott. We are happy with what we did today."

The U.S. will look to make its move upwards in the standings with a strong showing in the free routine. The reigning Pan American Champions will perform to the theme of "Metamorphosis."

The team event will get underway on Friday, August 22 with the tech portion, while the team free routine will be performed on Saturday, August 23. Members of the 2008 U.S. Synchronized Swimming Team include:

Andrea Nott (San Jose, Calif.), Annabelle Orme (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Jillian Penner (Seattle, Wash.) and Kim Probst (Troy, N.Y.).
