USA Swimming Announces 2008 FINA Short Course World Championships Team
Twenty-six of the nation's top swimmers, including five Olympians will travel to Manchester, England to represent Team USA at the 2008 FINA Short Course World Championships, April 9-13. World record-holder Ryan Lochte leads the men's team which also includes his 2004 Olympic teammates Larsen Jensen and Mark Gangloff. On the women's side, 2004 Olympians Margaret Hoelzer and Rachel Komisarz headline the field.

Organisers of the 9th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) are ecstatic as they witness the Manchester Evening News (M.E.N.) Arena transform into what could be the most exciting and entertaining swimming venue in the history of this event. The usual traditions and procedures for the World Swimming Championships are being stretched and boundaries have been pushed. From Wednesday, April 9 to Sunday, April 13, swimming will be presented in a fresh way with novel lighting and sound effects.
Olympians Lochte, Hoelzer, Jensen Headline the 08 US Team At Short Course Worlds
Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte will lead a field of 25 U.S. swimmers as they compete in the 2008 FINA Short Course World Swimming Championships, April 9-13 in Manchester, England. In addition to Lochte, the competition will also include 2004 Olympians Margaret Hoelzer, Larsen Jensen, Rachel Komisarz, and Mark Gangloff. The competition begins Wednesday with prelims starting at 10 a.m. BST and finals beginning at 5:45 p.m. BST.
Team USA Breaks World Record in Men's 400m Free Relay - 08 FINA SC World Champs
Team USA had a strong first day of competition at the 9th FINA Short Course World Swimming Championships, winning gold and breaking the world record in the men's 400m free relay. The team of Ryan Lochte, Bryan Lundquist, Nathan Adrian, and Doug Van Wie set the world record with a time of 3:08.44, besting the previous record by more than a second. Mary Descenza took home Team USA's first individual gold of the meet and set an American record in the 200m fly with a time of 2:04.27.
Jessica Hardy Breaks World Record, Wins Gold at 2008 FINA Short Course World
Jessica Hardy set one for the record books Thursday, breaking the world record in the 50m breast at the 2008 FINA Short Course World Swimming Championships in Manchester, England. Hardy broke her first short course world record with a winning time of 29.58. Hardy is now the current 50m breast world champion in both short course and long course meters.
Lochte, Women’s 400m Medley Relay Set World Records at 2008 FINA SC Worlds
Ryan Lochte and Team USA’s 400m medley relay broke two world records Friday on the third day of competition at the 2008 FINA Short Course World Swimming Championships. Lochte took more than a second of the men’s 200 I.M. world record with his time of 1:51.56, while the women’s 400m medley team of Margaret Hoelzer, Jessica Hardy, Rachel Komisarz, and Kara Denby broke the world record in 3:51.36.

Ryan Lochte proved his dominance in the pool once again Saturday by breaking the world record in the men's 100m I.M. at the 9th FINA Short Course World Swimming Championships in Manchester, England. Lochte bested the previous record by more than four tenths with a time of 51.25. Team USA's Jessica Hardy and Peter Marshall took home individual gold medals, bringing the U.S. overall medal count to 11 (eight gold, two silver and one bronze).

Team USA and Ryan Lochte ended the 2008 FINA Short Course World Swimming Championships on a high note Sunday, taking home the Championship trophy for their overall performance in the meet and adding a new world mark to the record books in the case of Lochte's gold medal performance in the 100m I.M. Team USA swimmers also broke four American records Sunday and ended the meet atop the gold medal count, earning a total of 10 gold medals and 17 medals overall.
