Unless you are in the desert, you will encounter a pool, lake, ocean, or stream sometime (and if you are in that desert, you probably want to find water, too). If it's not frozen, then you can bet someone has swum in it recently.
Swimming is a part of many people's everyday life. This guide site is devoted to
swimming in all of its forms, both competitive and recreational. We will look at swimming
from Olympics to learn-to-swim, from water polo to fin swimming, and from being the parent
of an up and coming age grouper to being an expectant parent.
Swimming is a healthy activity with both physical and mental
benefits. Increase your fitness with water exercise, be it lap swimming or water
aerobics; besides the benefits to your heart, lungs, and muscles, you will feel better
about yourself. Take a break from your hectic daily schedule and enjoy playing at the
beach on a hot summer day. Maybe you
surf, scuba dive, sail, or
paddle (all covered expertly by other guides); each is enhanced by the ability to
swim.
