Ishimatsu (Seal Beach, Calif.) and Dunnichay (Elwood, Ind.) won their first international medal together after scoring 317.22 points to take the bronze in the women’s 10-meter synchro contest. China’s Chen Roulin and Wang Xin won the gold with 351.18 points, and Canada’s Roseline Filion claimed silver at 327.18. Nancilea Foster (Spring, Texas) finished fourth with 312.90 points in the women’s 3-meter finals, and Kelci Bryant (Chatham, Ill.) placed sixth at 294.45. China’s Li Ting scored 353.55 points for gold.
Despatie and Arturo Miranda won gold for Canada in the men’s 3-meter synchro competition with 404.34 points. The U.S. team of Justin Wilcock (Smithfield, Utah) and Burkley Showe (Columbus, Ohio) placed eighth with 36.81 points. The Canada Cup continues wraps up Sunday with men’s 3-meter finals, featuring USA’s Chris Colwill, women’s 10-meter finals, men’s 10-meter synchro finals and women’s 3-meter synchro finals.
Following the Canada Cup, many of the participants will head to Fort Lauderdale to compete in the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix, which runs May 10-13.
