Cardinell entered the semi-finals this afternoon as the number six seed. She posted a total of 324.5 points, besting her prelims score of 304.95. Cardinell, who scored below 60 only once in her five dives, was in eighth place entering her final dive. She earned 71.40 points, her highest score of the semis, with a back 2 ½ somersault 1 ½ twists in the pike position.
Livingston finished the semi-finals with 297.60 points, a score that nearly matched her preliminary mark of 298.65. The Texas product opened her competition with a forward 3 ½ somersault pike, earning 66.00 points. After three more dives, Livingston stood in 12th place, but a score of 69.70 on her closing dive bumped her into the top 10.
Mexico's Paola Milagros Espinosa was the top qualifier today with 394.10 points. China's Lishi Lao (368.80) and Korea's Hong In Sun (328.05) rounded out the top three. Diving action continues tomorrow with the men's platform prelims and semi-finals.

Cardinell posted a score of 304.95 in the prelims, ranking sixth among all competitors. The World University Games veteran opened her program with two solid dives, earning scores of 65.6 and 63 points respectively. After a disappointing score on her third dive an inward 3 ½ somersault tuck (25.6) - the Indiana University product rebounded with two 74-plus point dives. She concluded the session with a back 2 ½ somersault 1 ½ twists in the pike position, earning 76.5 points, her best score of the prelims.Livingston finished ninth in preliminary competition with a score of 298.65. The highlight of her morning performance came with her final dive, a back 2 ½ somersault 1 ½ twists in the pike position (5253B). She earned a score of 69.7 for her best score of the morning.
