USA Divers Boudia and Finchum Close Out World Championship Diving with a Bronze

Team USA wrapped up the 12th FINA World Championships with its best diving performance of the weeklong competition – a bronze medal in the men’s 10-meter synchronized diving event. Divers David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind.) and Thomas Finchum (Indianapolis, Ind.) scored 463.56 points to place third behind China’s Huo Liang and Lin Yue (489.48) and Russia’s Dmitriy Dobroskok and Gleb Galperin (467.16) in the final event of the meet.

Foster 6th, Bryant 10th in Women's 3-meter Finals

Two USA divers placed in the top 10 of the women's 3-meter finals at the World Championships on Sunday afternoon. Nancilea (Underwood) Foster (Spring, Texas) placed sixth with 312.70 points, and Kelci Bryant (Chatham, Ill.) was 10th at 294.55.

USA Diver Finchum Just Misses Out on 10-meter Semifinals

Thomas Finchum missed out on a spot in the men’s 10-meter semifinals at the FINA World Championships by the narrowest of margins Saturday evening. The top 18 divers advance to the semifinals, and Finchum (Indianapolis, Ind.) placed 19th with 382.00 points. He was less than half a point behind Italy’s Francesco Dell’uomo, who placed 18th with 382.45 points.

Both divers representing the United States in the women’s 3-meter competition at the FINA World Championships have advanced to the semifinals after their results in Saturday’s preliminaries. Nancilea (Underwood) Foster (Spring, Texas) placed eighth with 297.15 points, and Kelci Bryant (Chatham, Ill.) was 12th with 284.85 points.

Allison Brennan finished sixth in the 1-meter finals at the World Championships. Brennan (Huntington Beach, Calif.) scored 287.75 points in the finals, improving her score from the semis by 17.80 points.

Troy Dumais, USA Diver, Advances to Finals on 3-meter at World Champs

Troy Dumais (Austin, Texas) took seventh in the men’s 3-meter semifinals Friday afternoon to earn a spot in Friday night’s finals at the FINA World Championships. He scored 434.80 points to qualify for the finals, and with his guaranteed top 12-finish, he also secured one spot for the U.S. in the 2008 Olympic Games. The top 12 finishers in each individual event earn spots for their countries on that event for the Games.

USA Diver Allison Brennan Into Finals for Women's 1-meter at World Championships

Allison Brennan came from behind to earn a spot in the women’s 1-meter finals at the FINA World Championships Friday. Brennan (Huntington Beach, Calif.) placed third with 269.95 points in Semifinal A to advance. The top three finishers in each semi move on to the finals, which will be held at 6 p.m. (3 a.m. Eastern time) on Friday.

Dumais Fifth in 3-meter Preliminaries at World Championships

Troy Dumais placed fifth in the men’s 3-meter preliminaries at the World Championships Thursday to move on to Friday’s semifinals. Dumais (Austin, Texas), the silver medalist on the event at the 2005 World Championships, scored 456.00 points. He scored 84 points on his reverse 3-1/2 in the fifth round, good for the top score of any diver in the round.

Wilkinson Gives U.S. Divers Another Fourth-place Finish

Laura Wilkinson (Spring, Texas) turned in another gutsy performance in the women’s 10-meter finals at the World Championships on Wednesday night. She finished fourth with 361.80 points, giving the U.S. its third fourth-place finish of the championships. China took the top two spots, with gold going to Wang Xin (432.85) and silver to Chen Roulin (410.30). Germany’s Christin Steuer took the bronze with 386.85 points.

US Diver Chris Colwill Fourth on the 1-Meter Board at World Championships

Chris Colwill (Brandon, Fla.) placed fourth on the 1-meter finals at the FINA World Championships on Wednesday evening. Colwill finished with 432.10 points, while China claimed the top two spots. Luo Yutong won the gold with 477.40 points, and He Chong took silver at 469.85. Italy's Christopher Sacchin finished third at 441.40.

US Diver Colwill Advances to 1-Meter Semifinals at 2007 World Championships

Chris Colwill (Brandon, Fla.) placed fourth in the men's 1-meter preliminaries Tuesday morning at the FINA World Championships to advance to Wednesday morning's semifinals. Colwill, who won a bronze on the event at the 2006 World Cup, scored 387.05 points to advance to the next round. He jumped from seventh place to fourth in the final standings after scoring 72 points on his final dive - a reverse two and a half pike. It was his highest scoring dive of the prelims.
