US Diver Chris Colwill Fourth on the 1-Meter Board at World Championships

From USA Diving, for About.com

Chris Colwill (Brandon, Fla.) placed fourth on the 1-meter finals at the FINA World Championships on Wednesday evening. Colwill finished with 432.10 points, while China claimed the top two spots. Luo Yutong won the gold with 477.40 points, and He Chong took silver at 469.85. Italy's Christopher Sacchin finished third at 441.40.

Colwill and Sacchin were involved in a tight contest for the bronze medal throughout the competition. Just 4.15 points separated the divers with just two rounds to go, but Sacchin was able to maintain the lead. "I figured it would be a battle judging by his performance in the semifinal. I wish I could have done a little better," Colwill said. "But I'm going to move on start thinking about 3-meter. I'm ready to do it now."

The 3-meter preliminaries start at 10 a.m. Thursday.
