Chris Colwill advances to 1-meter finals at World Championship Diving

Chris Colwill (Brandon, Fla.) finished third in his semifinal on men’s 1-meter Wednesday morning to advance to the finals at the FINA World Championships. He’ll compete again Wednesday evening against five other divers.

Colwill scored 400.75 points in semifinal A to advance along with China’s He Chong (462.60) and Italy’s Christopher Sacchin (427.90). They’ll join the top three finishers from semifinal B – China’s Luo Yutong (463.40), Ukraine’s Illya Kvasha (422.60) and Russia’s Artem Lvov (412.75) – in the finals. Colwill won the bronze medal on this event at the 2006 World Cup. The finals will start at 5:30 p.m. in Melbourne (2:30 a.m. Eastern time).
