You can never be certain who will have the Olympic Swimming gold, silver, or bronze medal swims at any Olympic games, but the swimmers listed here are among the best Team USA has swimming at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
More on Olympic Swimming.
Ryan Lochte is fast. Ryan is good. Ryan is GREAT at the most important events, like an Olympic Games. He can race with anyone in almost any event, and on the right day, will beat anyone. Will he win seven gold medals in 2012? He has a chance in the relays plus the 200 Free, 200 Back, 200 IM, and the 400 IM.
Missy Franklin came into her own at the 2011 World Champs. Now we'll see how she does at the 2012 Olympics. Missy has great medal chances in the 4x100 free relay, the 4x200 free relay, the 4x100 medley relay, the 100 back, and the 200 back.
Rebecca Soni is among those that will challenge in the breaststroke events - or maybe I should say others will be challenging her. Rebecca is the favorite in both the 100 and 200 breast going into the London games. She has a medal chance in the 4x100 medley relay, too.
Dana Vollmer - Butterfly, Relays
Dana Vollmer is the fastest 100 meter butterflyer swimmer going into the 2012 Olympics. If she ends the games that way, it'll be golden! Dana will also be in the group going for a medal on the USA's 4x100 medley relay and 4x200 free relay.
Matt Grevers - Backstroke, Relays
Matt Grevers is one of the best at the 100 backstroke. Matt will also have medal shots in the 4x100 free relay and the 4x100 medley relay for team USA.
Allison Schmitt - Freestyle, Relays
Allison Schmitt will be in the mix for medals in both the 200 and 400 free. If she has great swims in both events, then gold is in the mix! Look for her in both the 4x100 free relay and the 4x200 free relay, too.
Elizabeth Beisel - IM
Elizabeth Beisel will be in the 400 individual medley medal chase at the London games.
Caitlin Leverenz - IM
Caitlin Leverenz will be in the 200 individual medley race for an Olympic medal.
