Definition: finish plates placed vertically (i.e., perpendicular to the surface of the water) at the end of open water races that identify the race finish and can be electronically tied to the official timing system. (noun)
Also Known As: finish, finish pad, finish line, timing pad
Examples: The two swimmers slapped the touch pad at nearly the exact same time.
