A New English Channel Swimming Record for English Channel Swimmer Petar Stoychev

Swimmer Petar Stoychev from Bulgaria set a new swimming world record for crossing the English Channel on 24 Aug 2007. His time across channel via the Dover Strait, a distance of over 38 kms, was 6 hours, 57 minutes, and 50 seconds (6:57:50).

He is the first swimmer to make the English Channel swim crossing in less than 7 hours. The previous record was held by German Open Water swimmer Christof Wandratsch at 7:03:52, set in 2005.
