USA Swimming's Eva Fabian won the 2010 Women's 5K Open Water World Swimming Championship title in Roberval, Quebec, pacing the field with a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes and .98 seconds. On the men's side, Fran Crippen took home the bronze medal in the 2010 Men's 5K Open Water World Swimming Championship with a time of 57:46.48.

Fabian nipped silver medalist Giorgia Consiglio of Italy by a tenth of a second at the finish. Brazil's Ana Marcela Cunha was third in 1:02:02.68. Fabian's American teammate Christine Jennings (Longmont, Colo.) tied for fourth with Brazil's Poliana Okimoto in 1:02:02.78.

Crippen took third behind Germany's Thomas Lurz, who won the race in 57:42.63, and Russia's Evgeny Drattsev, who placed second in 57:44.150. Team USA's Chip Peterson (Pine Knoll Shores, N.C) finished 21st with a time of 58:03.96. The men's and women's Open Water 25K World Championship race will take place Thursday, July 22.
