Zook said he exceeded his expectations for day two of the competition and was satisfied with the results, but eager for day three of the trials. “I expected to swim well, but was surprised with the records, especially in the 50m free,” said Zook. “I swam well compared to the rankings and I am really excited going in to the final day of competition. It has been fun watching all of the competition and I hope to achieve a best time tomorrow to end on a high note.”
Golden Valley, Minn. resident Anna Eames finished day two strong with a new American record in the Women’s 100m butterfly (S10) with a time of 1:10:57. Miranda Uhl (Alachua, Florida) secured a notable American record finish in the 100m backstroke (S6) with a time of 1:39.47.
Lantz Lamback (Colorado Springs, Colo.) returned from a solid day one of competition with a successful day two earning an American record in the 50m butterfly (S7) with a time of 34.14.
Based on performances posted at the U.S. Paralympics Swimming Trials, U.S. Paralympics is expected to nominate 38 athletes (20 male and 18 female) to the team Sunday, April 6, 2008. The final day of competition is on Saturday and will begin with preliminaries at 9:00 a.m. central, with finals starting at 5:00 p.m.
