NCAA 2000 Championships - UPDATE

Basketball's championships may not be completed, but  swimming's is over; Texas is the Men's champion for 2000.

They dominated although more by general strength than specific record setting performances. Many individual swimmers, like Ervin from California and Moses of Virginia, took their mark - and broke World Records.

These are the highlights - for more detailed results links, check the Swimming News NCAA Section.

DI Men - The Longhorns finished with 538 points, followed by Auburn (385), Arizona (360.5), Stanford (279.5), Cal (279), Southern Cal (249).  Coach Eddie Reese was named NCAA Coach of the Year, while double individual world-record setter Virginia sophomore Ed Moses was voted NCAA Swimmer of the Year.

Women - Georgia wins again (NCAA) By a margin of 18.5 points, the Bulldogs splash past Arizona with Stanford following in third. Numerous records were set at the competition, held in a 25 meter pool.

DII Men - Cal. St. Bakersfield first (NCAA) CSB claimed first place over Drury, with West Chester a distant third.

Women - Drury wins (NCAA) Drury's won by 105 points; Truman finished second, followed by North Dakota.

DIII Men - Kenyon wins 21st in a row (NCAA) The Lords claimed the spot on top of the podium, followed by Denison and Emory. Kenyon has now won more team championships in a row than any other team in NCAA history - in any sport!

Women - Kenyon wins 17th in a row (NCAA) The Kenyon Ladys dominated the meet, finishing in first place by over 200 points. Denison finished in second, with UCSD claiming third.
