USA National Swim Teamer and current USA Swimming 2010 Grand Prix Series leader Chloe Sutton will also compete in Austin. Sutton is in a strong position to take home the $20,000 prize that will be awarded to the highest-scoring swimmer at the conclusion of the series.
The 2010 Austin Grand Prix Swim Meet is the fourth stop in the eight-meet USA Swimming 2010 Grand Prix Series. Swimmers are awarded five points for a gold medal, three points for a silver medal and one point for a bronze medal.
More than 1,000 swimmers will compete in the meet, including a large group of Olympians and US National Team swimmer. In addition to Peirsol, Olympians from Longhorn Aquatics that will swim in Austin include Garret Weber-Gale, David Walters and Kathleen Hersey. Other Olympians that will be at the meet include Matt Grevers, Margaret Hoelzer, Dana Vollmer, Cullen Jones, Christine Magnuson, Katie Hoff, Peter Vanderkaay, Mark Gangloff, Kara Lynn Joyce and Amanda Weir.
In Austin, preliminary heats will be held in the 25-yard pool (short course) while finals competition will be held in the 50-meter pool (long course). The meet will take place at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas. Finals start at 5:30 p.m. and prelims begin at 9:30 a.m.

The Grand Prix Series serves as an opportunity for swimmers to race against some of the best competition in the country, as they continue their preparation for the 2010 ConocoPhillips National Championships (3-7 Aug) and the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships (18-22 Aug), both of which will take place in Irvine, Calif. Other stops in the Grand Prix series include: Columbus, Ohio (1-4 Apr); Charlotte, N.C. (13-16 May); Santa Clara, Calif. (17-20 Jun); and Los Angeles (8-11 Jul).
