Olympian Chloe Sutton earned double gold on the first day of the 2010 Ohio State Grand Prix Swim Meet at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, winning both the 200m and 800m freestyle. Sutton and 2008 Olympic teammate Kate Ziegler faced off twice tonight, with Sutton coming out on top on both occasions.

Sutton sailed to the win in the 800, claiming gold by more than 13 seconds in 8:29.31. Ziegler hit the wall next in 8:43.40, while 2009 World Championship Teamer Eva Fabian (Keene, New Hampshire) earned bronze in 8:48.13.

In the women's 200m free, Sutton again got her hand on the wall first, battling for the top spot with Dagny Knutson (Minot, N.D.). While Knutson led for the majority of the race, it was Sutton who surged ahead in a time of 1:59.52. Knutson was second in 2:00.02. Jasmine Tosky (Palo Alto, Calif.) was third in 2:00.85.

Two-time Olympian Peter Vanderkaay (Rochester, Mich.) touched out Djordje Markovic by a half-second in the men's 200m free to claim the top spot in 1:49.99. Markovic followed in 1:50.53 while Markus Rogan (Venice, Calif.) was the third-fastest in 1:50.65. Rogan went on to win the men's 200m IM in 2:01.75 later in the session.

While Cal's Damir Dugonjic sprinted ahead of the crowd in lane four at the 50-meter mark, Marcus Titus (Tucson, Ariz.) and Olympian Eric Shanteau (Lilburn, Ga.) chased him down on the back half of the race. In a heated race, Titus touched in first at 1:01.15 while Shanteau took silver in 1:01.19. Coming from an outside lane to take third was Roman Sludnov in 1:02.40.

Elizabeth Pelton (Ruxton, Md.) clocked in at 2:14.54 in the women's 200m IM, while Knutson picked up her second silver medal of the evening in a time of 2:15.64. Tosky earned her third medal in her third event of the night, taking bronze in 2:17.08.

Tosky claimed her second medal of the night with a win in the women's 100m fly in 1:00.13. In other events, Mathias Gydesen stopped the clock first in the men's 100m butterfly in 53.34. Corrie Clark (Malvern, Pa.) hammered home in the top time of 1:11.17 in the women's 100m breaststroke.

The Grand Prix Series serves as an opportunity for swimmers to race against some of the best competition in the country, as they continue their preparation for the 2010 ConocoPhillips National Championships (3-7 Aug) and the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships (18-22 Aug), both of which will take place in Irvine, Calif. Other stops in the Grand Prix series include: Charlotte, N.C. (13-16 May); Santa Clara, Calif. (17-20 Jun); and Los Angeles (8-11 Jul).
