Sutton kept a strong lead throughout the race and won with a time of 9:32.69, just two seconds off the meet record. Bonnie Brandon (Centennial, Colo.) finished second in 9:48.91 and Trojan Swim Club's Hayley Anderson (Granite Bay, Calif.) was third in 9:55.43.
On the men's side, Margalis finished the 1000y free time of 9:01.54. John Koehler (Bloomington, Ind.) finished a close second in 9:03.49 and Zane Grothe (Boulder City, Nev.) finished third in 9:04.32.
