Olympians Margaret Hoelzer, Kate Ziegler, and Elaine Breeden will head to Federal Way, August 4-8, for the 2009 US Open Swimming Championships. Competition will take place at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center and will feature a field of more than 800 swimmers.

Two-time Olympian Hoelzer, who trains in Federal Way with King Aquatics, is slated to compete in her signature events, the 100m and 200m backstroke. Breeden will take on her Olympic events, as she is entered in the 100m and 200m butterfly in addition to other races. The U.S. Open will also mark the first time Ziegler has competed in an elite-level meet since competing at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

In addition to the Olympians, among those expected to compete is a number of National Teamers, including Nick Thoman (Cincinnati, Ohio), Whitney Myers (Oxford, Ohio), Michael Klueh (Evansville, Ind.), Chad La Tourette (Mission Viejo, Calif.), Bobby Bollier (Mission Hills, Kan.), Lara Jackson (Tuscon, Ariz.), Nick Brunelli (Mansfield, Mass.) and Elizabeth Tinnon (Bowling Green, Ky.). Former National Teamer Jessica Hardy is also expected to make a return to competition.
