USA Swimming officially named Chris Davis (Swim Atlanta) as head coach for the American team at the Japan International Grand Prix. Davis will be joined by assistant coaches Eric Hansen (Wisconsin Aquatics), Cyndi Gallagher (UCLA Swimming), Bill Dorenkott (Penn State University), Carol Capitani (Athens Bulldog Swim Club), Paul Yetter (North Baltimore Aquatic Club), and Bill Wadley (Ohio State Swim Club).
Swimmers competing at the Japan International Grand Prix were selected based upon a performance that was equal to or better than the sixth place time at the 2007 ConocoPhillips National Championships. In addition, these swimmers were not members of the 2007 World Championship Team, 2007 Pan American Games Team or 2007 World University Games Team, unless otherwise invited to the competition by the Japan Amateur Swimming Federation.
