Komisarz and Soni Swim to Silver Medals on Day 3 in 07 Japan International Meet

With just one day left in the 2007 Japan International Swim Meet, American swimmers added two more medals to the hardware count for a total of seven in Chiba, Japan. Rachel Komisarz and Rebecca Soni each swam silver-medal performances.

In one of her signature events, Komisarz scored Team USA’s first medal of the day in the 100m butterfly. She hit the wall in 58.11 to earn the silver medal. Christine Magnuson also swam the event, finishing fourth in a time of 58.56.

Soni captured her second silver medal of the meet when she clocked in at 2:23.36 in the 200m breaststroke. Abigail McGregor also represented the U.S. in the event with an eighth place finish. Her time was 2:30.65. Other American swimmers competing in finals Thursday included:

  • Katie Fiefenstahl, 5th, 200 back (2:11.35)
  • Presley Bard, 7th, 200 back (2:13.34)
  • Patrick Schirk, 4th, 20 back (1:58.90)
  • Ashley Chandler, 6th, 200 free (1:59.95)
  • Jon Roberts, 7th, 200 breast (2:15.11)
  • John Criste, 8th, 200 breast (2:15.44)
