Turning first at the half-way point, Klueh increased his lead throughout the race to hit the wall first and add a second gold medal to his hardware count in a time of 3:47.62.

Matt Patton (Charlotte, N.C.) was responsible for second place with a time of 3:50.27, and Chad La Tourette (Mission Viejo, Calif.) rounded out the top three in 3:51.38.

Following in Patton's footsteps, Descenza also earned her second gold medal in meet record time of 58.30 in the women's 100m butterfly. Kate Dwelley (Brentwood, Calif.) came in at 59.29, while Amanda Sims (Santa Rosa, Calif.) swam the third-place time of 59.50.

Kelsey Ditto (Austin, Texas) and Kristen Heiss (Casper, Wyo.) went head-to-head in the women's 400m freestyle, with Ditto touching in first to earn her second gold medal of the meet. Ditto stopped the clock at 4:08.91, while Heiss swam the silver-medal time of 4:09.25. Samantha Shellem (La Verne, Calif.) took home her first medal of the competition when she swam a time of 4:13.69 for the bronze.
