Vollmer's first gold medal of the night came in the women's 100y fly with a time of 51.39. Vollmer's Cal Aquatics teammate Amanda Sims (Santa Rosa, Calif.) was second in 52.96 Kathryn Kinnear of the Issaquah Swim Team finished third in 53.09, a personal best time.
Vollmer's second gold was earned in the women's 200y free. The 2004 Olympian battled Dagny Knutson (Minot, N.D.) for the lead throughout the race but Vollmer claimed the top spot at the final turn and finished with a time of 1:42.36. Knutson picked up the silver in 1:42.61 and Katie Hoff (Towson, Md.) was third in 1:44.27.
Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Soni (Plainsboro, N.J.) set the second meet record of the night in the women's 100y breast. Soni swam a 58.62 which bested the previous record of 58.74. Olympian and Washington native Megan Jendrick (Tacoma, Wash.) was second in 59.26 and Justine Mueller (Monroe, Mich.) was third in 59.39. The men's 100y breast featured a strong field that included four-time Olympic medalist Kosuke Kitajima of Japan. Mike Alexandrov (Champaign, Ill.) was able to hold off Kitajima to earn the gold in 52.07. Kitajima claimed the silver in 52.44 and World Championship gold medalist Eric Shanteau (Lilburn, Ga.) earned the bronze in 52.84.
Nick Thoman (Cincinnati, Ohio) won the men's 100y back with a time of 45.60. Rex Tullius (Port Orange, Fla.) claimed the silver with a time of 46.21 and Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill.) earned the bronze in 46.22. On the women's side, Ukraine's Kateryna Fesenko won the 100y back with a time of 52.70. Japan's Noriko Inada was second in 52.87 and Presley Bard (Napa, Calif.) was third in 53.19.
Peter Vanderkaay (Rochester, Mich.) won the men's 200y free with a time of 1:34.08. William Copeland (Lexington, Va.) was second in 1:35.02 and Matt Bartlett (Cumming, Ga.) finished third in 1:35.86.
In the women's 400y IM, Hungary's Katinka Hosszu lead the field at the halfway point, however, two-time Olympian Katie Hoff (Towson, Md.) had a strong breaststroke leg to give her the lead going into the final 100 meters. Hoff won the gold in 4:01.95 while Hosszu finished second in 4:04.17. Madeline Dirado of Neptune Swimming finished third in 4:06.48. On the men's side, Robert Margalis (St. Petersburg, Fla.) picked up the gold medal with a time of 3:45.24. Brazil's Andre Schultz was second in 3:46.66 and World Championship silver medalist Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif.) was third in 3:48.30.
The men's 100y fly was won by Grevers in 46.28. Grevers held on to the lead to beat Kenya's Jason Dunford to the wall. Dunford took home the silver with a time of 46.33 and Nathan Adrian (Bremerton, Wash.) swam a personal best to finish third and earn the bronze in 46.62.
