USA Swimming Names 2009 International Open Water Swimming Teams

Swimmers to Compete 2009 FINA World Championships and Open Water 10k World Cup

USA Swimming named the open water swimmers that will compete at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy and the FINA Open Water 10K World Cup in Roberval, Quebec, Canada. Swimmers were selected to the two teams based upon their performance at the 10K USA Swimming Open Water National Championships in Fort Myers, FL, on June 14 2009. The open water events in Rome will take place July 19 - 25, in Ostia Lido di Roma in Ostia (Harbor of Ostia).

The USA Swimming Open Water Team for the 2009 FINA Swimming World Championships:

  • Fran Crippen (Philadelphia, PA) 5km and 10km Races
  • Emily Brunemann (Crescent Springs, KY) 5km and 10km Races
  • Eva Fabian (Keene, NH) 10km and 25km Races
  • Emily Hanson (Bloomington, IL) 5km and 25km Racs
  • Andrew Gemmell (Wilmington, DE) 5km and 10km Races
  • Sean Ryan (Chattanooga, TN) 25km Race
  • Alex Meyer (Ithaca, NY) 25km Race
  • Head Coach: Catherine Vogt (Los Angeles, CA)

The USA Swimming Open Water Swimmers selected to compete at the 2009 FINA Open Water 10K World Cup on July 23 in Roberval, Quebec, Canada include:

  • Deni Cullom (Dana Point, CA)
  • Josef Kinderwater (Lancaster, PA)
  • Christine Jennings (Longmont, CO)
  • Nicole Vernon (Wilmington, DE)
  • Head Coach: Michael Gobrecht (Camp Hill, PA)
