With a total of 800 swimmers from 130 countries intended to compete in the 5 day event, the FINA World Championships will offer intense competition among many Olympic hopefuls preparing for Beijing, starting with the leading contingents from the United States and Australia. The event will include former Olympians Grant Hackett (AUS), Adam Pine (AUS), Ryan Lochte (US), Larsen Jensen (US), Mark Gangloff (US), Margaret Hoelzer (US) and Rachel Komisarz (US). 2004 Olympians and current 4x100 World Record holders Alice Mills and Shayne Reese will also hit the pool for Team Australia.
