FINA Moves to Control Swimsuit Technology
FINA (Federation Internationale de Natation) has started to move the line backward, beginning the process of undoing the record havoc caused by the amazing swimsuits of 2008, like the Speedo LZR. The suit looks fast, and with swimmers like Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Kate Ziegler in them, I bet they will be the fastest swimsuit on the planet come Beijing during the 2008 Summer Olympics.

In a recent press release, blueseventy (of triathlon wetsuit fame, formerly the Ironamn brand) announced a partnership with FINA as an officail partner for FINA's 2008 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup Series. blueseventy's pointzero3 will become the official "swim skin" for FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cups. What does this mean for the pool events in the Olympics? Will swimmers be wearing this suit brand instead of a Speedo, Arena, Nike, Tyr, Diana, Asics, etc.?

Speedo announces the launch of the Fastskin FS-PRO swimsuit. The newest addition to the brand’s stable of elite speed suits, the Fastskin FS-PRO is a lightweight yet equally fast alternative to Speedo’s evolutionary Fastskin FSII suit, which was worn by swimmers who earned 47 medals at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Athletes will compete in the The Fastskin FS-PRO at the 12th FINA World Championships in Melbourne, Australia, March 25 – April 1, 2007.
