USA Synchronized Swimming Takes Silver at 07 Brazil FINA Synchro Swim World Cup

The United States Synchronized Swimming Team wrapped up competition today at the 2007 Brazil FINA Synchronized Swimming World Trophy Cup by claiming the silver medal in the free combination routine. Team USA posted a score of 98.667 while Russia was golden with a mark of 99.000. Spain finished in the third place position with a 97.333.

The three day competition was held at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park, which was also the site of the 2007 Pan American Games. The competition is unlike any other FINA event as it focuses primarily on artistic impression. The format included the duet, team and combination routine events and crowned an overall winner based on the highest sum of results.

Russia finished in the top overall point position with 296.333 points. Spain followed in second place with 295.000 points while the United States grabbed the third overall point total with 291.334 points. Japan finished in the fourth place position with 282.666 points.
