USA Men's Water Polo Hope of World Championship Medal Blocked by German Goalie

From

Team USA was delivered an upsetting blow by Germany today in the second round of the World Championship competition. All too reminiscent of their 2005 match up in Montreal, Germany once again knocked the U.S. men out of medal contention and defeated them 6-3. After a tough loss to Germany today, USA Men move to the classification round for places 9-12.

Unable to get past German goalkeeper Alexander Tchigir, the U.S. Men struggled to execute their offensive plays, scoring on only three of their 31 goal attempts. While the USA defense put up a respectable fight, it was not enough to keep them in the game.

With their win today, Germany advances to the quarter final match against Hungary. Team USA will play one more classification match to determine whether they play in the 11th-12th or 9th-10th place final round on Friday.
