USA Women's Water Polo Team Qualifies for Quarter Finals by Defeating Greece

From

They were hard fought victories, but Team USA is able to move to the top of their bracket after winning their first three preliminary match-ups against the Netherlands, Kazakhstan and Greece. It was a team effort as seven of the 11 field players on Team USA's roster delivered goal after goal into their opponent's net today.

Coming from behind 2-3, Kami Craig delivered the tie making shot from the 2M early in the second quarter. Georgia Lara quickly responded with a lob shot at 6:19, to convert Greece's fourth 6 on 5 attempt. Greece seemed to be taking an early lead, but after two more U.S. goals in the second quarter by van Norman and Cardenas, Team USA was able to hold on to the lead, defeating Greece 8-6 in the final match of the preliminary rounds.
