World Champs are Over - What Happens to the Water in the Swimming Pool?
The 12th FINA World Championships will provide a welcome boost to Melbourne’s green heritage, with water used in two temporary pools to be reused by the Royal Botanic Gardens and City of Melbourne. Acting Premier John Thwaites and Minister for Sport and Recreation James Merlino announced today that the water would be reused to support our renowned gardens and trees.

US Diver Colwill Advances to 1-Meter Semifinals at 2007 World Championships
Chris Colwill (Brandon, Fla.) placed fourth in the men's 1-meter preliminaries Tuesday morning at the FINA World Championships to advance to Wednesday morning's semifinals. Colwill, who won a bronze on the event at the 2006 World Cup, scored 387.05 points to advance to the next round. He jumped from seventh place to fourth in the final standings after scoring 72 points on his final dive - a reverse two and a half pike. It was his highest scoring dive of the prelims.

U.S. Takes Fourth and Fifth in Synchro Diving Events at Worlds
Team USA picked up a pair of top five finishes in synchronized diving on the first day of competition at the FINA World Championships. Troy Dumais (Austin, Texas) and Mitch Richeson (Greenwood, Ind.) finished fourth in the men’s 3-meter event, and Haley Ishimatsu (Seal Beach, Calif.) and Mary Beth Dunnichay (Elwood, Ind.) were fifth in the women’s 10-meter synchro contest. China won both golds.

USA Women Ready to Face Dutch in First Game of Preliminary Round Competition
Thirty minutes from the main competition site where the world's top 16 women's water polo teams will compete this evening, teams USA and the Netherlands shared one hour of pool time to warm up for tonight's opening match at 5pm. The two teams last met up at the 2006 Holiday Cup in Los Alamitos, California where Team USA reigned victorious. And TEam USA came up a winner again.

The solo technical final highlighted day three of the synchronized swimming portion of the 2007 FINA World Aquatic Championships held in Melbourne, Australia. Christina Jones represented Team USA in the fourth place position with a score of a 95.500.

The free combination final highlighted day two of the synchronized swimming portion of the 2007 FINA World Aquatic Championships held in Melbourne, Australia. Synchro will run through March 24 and features the solo, duet, team and combination events in the elite international competition. Team USA scored a 96.500 to secure a bronze medal after the finals of the free combination event. Russia finished on top with a near perfect 99.000 while Japan followed with a 97.833.
