Ms

I have just started back swimming,, and love it ,depending on the conditions in the pool, I normally take my time and enjoy doing 1 mile, aprox. 20 lengths in half an our, today I swam for 2hrs, It helps me get fit again also with my angina, and hiatal hernia,I should loose a stone, so onwards I must go, good luck to all who love it as much as I do.

Why do I swim

I have been swimming since the age of 6 years. I am now 50. I have disc prolapse and last year ruptured my right achilles tendon while playing basket ball. I have been in total depression till I gathered courage to enter the pool with these problems. I began slowly but as of now in one month I am swimming 2 hours free style everyday. I have lost all the extra flab I had gathered during my hospitalisation. I simply love swimming and cant imagine life without it

How and Why?

Swimming is my everything. I swim Mon-Sat with doubles Mon-Thurs about 5000 yards a practice. I love it. It pushes me to be something more, to acheive more. And the abs don't hurt either ;)

Swimming in Paradise

I started swimming when I was 4 years old. Now, at 53, I either swim in the olympic swimming pool here on Maui or in the ocean a few times a week for exercise and meditation. No other exercise even comes close to providing both.

Swimmin

I'm 13 and I swim 10, 2hr sessions a week with Dry-Land on Monday and Friday Mornings I compete at a National Level and have represented Queensland several times. I started because of a knee injury fell in love the sport and have been doing it since! I think (admitadly) I am addicted to exercise and swimming I mean if I take 2 days off I am half crazy and craving the water again!

swimmng each day despite fatigue

I am asking whether it is necessary to do two swim sessions in one day, I often feel fatigued and sore, but proceed on along with stair-climbing and some biking, along with running. Is it necessary?

my swimming

I've been swimming scince i was 3 and at the age of about 11 I got really into it and joined my swimming club I did practice at school but I had been out of the sport for a while so I started swimming as much as I could and just kept on doing it was the only thing I could do. I was a stubborn kid and I wasnt going to let it go so I went on. The main thing that you need is a motive a reason why and thats what kept me going

How often? Well...

I swim 7 practices a week, having 2-a-day practices twice per week. 4 of these practices are 2 and a half hours long, one of these practices is 2 hours long, and the last 2 practices are 1 and a half hours long. Most of my practices range from 6000 to 9000 yards, and my two morning practices (an hour and a half) are both underwater kicking (Yes, that means no breathing). I swim competitively, and my best event is the 1650 yard freestyle. My time is 18:17. I still have a long way to go to be one of the top swimmers, and I don't think I will ever be. But swimming is my sport and I am in incredible shape.

WHY DO I SWIM

I've been swimming 5 days a week to try and get rid of some of my belly fat. It's working great, but in addition it really is a time for me to be introspective. Once done with my swim ( 45 mins) i feel like i can tear the world apart and rebuild it before lunch.. AWESOME.. and I've lost 8 lbs in the last month.
