Olympic Swimming Controversy

Friday May 9, 2008
From swimsuits to drug use, Olympic swimming has had controversies. Michelle Smith, Dawn Fraser, and entire countries have been involved in scandals that have, in small or large fashion, tarnished swimming. Am I missing some? Let me know!

(1) KMM says:

With the spotlight on China this year, it is a reminder of when the Chinese women sprinters burst onto the scene between 1988 and 1994 with obvious bizarre muscular development. Winning golds in 1992 and breaking world records in 1994. Yes steroids, HGH, and EPO were and are used. FINA drug testing helps, but unfortunately has missed a majority of the cheaters for various reasons: early warning of testing, being away etc. Just ask Marion Jones how she got away with it for so long. A sad, sad, story. The great “clean” swimmers do exist and can hold their head high!
