Swimming New Zealand's has put together an introductory course for swim coaches via an on-line course. The "Swim Coaching Starter Pack" is aimed at novice coaches, and covers topics like expectations, fairness, communication, games, planning, and managing a workout. While it is aimed at new swim coaches, it is a good review for any swimming coach.

an ambitious and well-reasoned coach has little need for books and other tips .. works and taught himself how can to make champions; by oneself

Contrary to m.o.’s opinion EVERY coach, EVERYWHERE needs fresh ideas from other sources. Coaches of multiple Olympians confirm this with comments on having Games-Gimmicks-Challenges for Swimming Coaches.
Never limit your coaching to the way you were coached. Times change, will you?

Those who think they already know how to coach really annoy those who know how to coach.
if u think education is expensive, try ignorance.

As a new coach and just going through the USA Swimming training, and ASEP Successful Coaching Training, all of the top swim coaches in the country strongly advocate continued training and education. In my opinion if you think you know it all, maybe it is time to re-evaluate your coach philosophy. I can tell you one thing for certain, I would definately NOT want my child swimming for you.
