Join the Discussion "Is it good to have 50's in the World Championships? Isn't that what 11 and 12 year olds swim?  I never understood why women did not have a 1500 (they now do) but why add the sprints? What's going to happen at Trials - Semi - Finals meet - that is a lot of swimming. It already slows down some - not all - of the competitors, seeming to decrease the top speed in the final or championship heat of an event. On the other hand, adding 50's of strokes does give more events to the stroke specialists, getting them more involved and possibly adding a few more athletes to the mix."
