Following today’s prelimary rounds, 14 US swimmers will advance to finals. One event to watch will be the women’s 100m freestyle (S10), which will include three U.S. swimmers – Susan Beth Scott (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cape Girardeau, Mo.), Anna Eames (Golden Valley, Minn.) and Ashley Owens (Stockbridge, Ga.) – all vying for a spot on the podium. The trio is ranked two-three-four going into finals, with times of 1:02.93 (Scott), 1:03.58 (Eames) and 1:03.59 (Owens.) They will be challenging Katarzyna Pawlik (POL), who set a world record this morning with a time of 1:01.60.

“I feel great,” said Scott. “I’m gust going to focus on tonight, getting rest and recovering. This was a personal best by about two seconds. I haven’t been this fast since 2007.”

Eames and Owens will work to improve on their times during the finals: “I’m hoping to do better tonight. Hopefully I’ll come back stronger, and that’s all that counts,” said Eames. “I’m just going to do my best and go for it,” said Owens.
