World's Best Divers Will Compete at the 2007 AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix

Many of the world’s best divers will be gathered in Fort Lauderdale for 4-days of top level international competition. The 2007 AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix will be held at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex from May 10-13. The AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix is the sole U.S. leg on the seven-country FINA (Federation Internationale de Natation) Grand Prix tour.

Approximately 20 countries and more than 100 divers are scheduled to compete. Among the divers expected are 17 who won medals at the FINA World Championships in Melbourne, Australia, in March 2007.

Those divers include USA’s David Boudia and Thomas Finchum, who won bronze in 10-meter synchro. China’s Wu Minxia, Guo Jingjing, Chen Ruolin, Wang Xin, Jia Tong, Wang Feng, Lin Yue and Huo Liang all won gold medals at the World Championships and are expected to participate in the Grand Prix. Other World Championship medalists include Australia’s Briony Cole, Sharleen Stratton and Melissa Wu, Canada’s Alexandre Despatie and Arturo Miranda, China’s Zhou Luxin, and Italy’s Tania Cagnotto. In addition, three U.S. Olympians – 2000 Olympic gold medalist Laura Wilkinson, 2000 & 2004 Olympian Troy Dumais and 2004 Olympian Cassandra Cardinell are scheduled to compete.

Competition will be conducted in four events for both men and women:

  • 3-meter springboard
  • 10-meter platform
  • 3-meter synchronized springboard
  • 10-meter synchronized platform
The Fort Lauderdale Diving Team and the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex, along with USA Diving, are hosting the event.
