The Bottom Line

The h2oaudio waterproof cases for Apple iPod and iRiver 700 MP3 players work as claimed. Not a drop of liquid got inside, controls are useable, and with a little adjusting the sound quality was better than expected when listening to music underwater.

I do not recommend these for use during a regular swim workout as the iPod players are too bulky - the iRiver might work for lap swimmers, they are smaller. But, for casual laps or any other activity around the water, I believe the h2oaudio cases will work.

Guide Review - Swim or Splash with Your Apple iPod or iRiver iFP with These Waterproof Cases

I used the h2oaudio SV iMini waterproof case with my friend's Apple iPod Mini MP3 player while jogging, swimming, and splashing around in the swimming pool. No water got to the iPod - thank you h2oaudio!

The iPod controls were easy to use despite the waterproof case. I was able to use all buttons and jog dial with ease. Both carrying systems - armband and waistbelt - held the player in place comfortably with no sliding or shifting.

I did not like swimming laps with the iPod Mini, but I could do it, and I might be able to get used to it. The unit just seemed a little too big or bulky when using the swimbelt carrier and I was too lopsided when using the armband carrier while lap swimming. I think this is due to the size of the iPod, not the size of the waterproof case.

When running and just playing around the pool, no problems, the sound was great, the unit was comfortable and secure. I would use this for talking an Apple iPod to the beach or pool, but I would not do serious lap swimming with it.

The h2oaudio waterproof cases for Apple iPods and iRiver 700's are a wise investment if you want to protect your MP3 player from moisture. These are great for surfers, scuba divers, snorkelers, recreational swimmers, and beach-goers.
