The Keynote Lecture of the American Swimming Coaches Association 2007 San Diego World Clinic on Wednesday, 5 September at 7pm features three of the United States top swim coaches. Mark Schubert, Eddie Reese, and Jack Bauerle. This trio of coaches will lead the US Olympic Swimming Team into the Beijing Olympic Games in July of 2008. Coach Reese will be Head Coach of the Men’s Team, Coach Bauerle Head Coach of the Women’s Team and Coach Schubert is the USA National Team General Manager and Head Coach. This presentation will focus on the nature of the challenge ahead, and the plans of these three gentlemen to meet that challenge and lead a great Olympic team to a stellar performance on the greatest of world stages.

Coach Schubert is the most successful club coach in American History and continued his success at the NCAA level at Texas and the University of Southern California. This will be his first Olympic Games where he will not be preparing athletes directly, but will instead direct the overall team effort for men and women in his role as General Manager of the USA Team. A different role for Mark, and much anticipated by everyone around the national program. Our leader has impeccable credentials to seek Gold Medals!

Coach Reese is the next most experienced Olympic Coach, with dominant athletes and world record holders in his training pool at the University of Texas. In addition, Eddie’s ability to lead a team, relax a team, and keep the team focused on the goal is legendary and we look forward to listening to him.

This is Coach Jack Bauerle, of the Georgia Bulldogs, first Head Olympic Coaching position. With NCAA Championships to accompany his previous international leadership experience at both the World Championship and Olympic coaching levels, Jack rounds out a fantastic group of coaches for our American Olympic Team to look to for guidance in the caldron of competition that will be the Olympic Swimming Aqua-Cube in Beijing.

It will be a huge challenge. Come hear how these coaching leaders are planning to meet it.
