The Bottom Line
I have used a program like it in the past, and continue to do so. I like the Swim Power 3 ideas enough that I am going to alter my current dryland program to be sure I include all of the Swim Power 3 dryland exercises.
Pros
- Simple strength program for freestyle swimming
- Relatively brief amount of time commitment per workout to get positive results
- Exercises can be done anywhere - poolside, beach, home, gym, office
- Effective strength and injury prevention program
- Included flexibility exercises make a good addition to the program
Cons
- Very specific to freestyle pulling only
- Requires equipment (but just one type, a stretch cord/surgical tubing - and that is included)
- Must be done regularly to get the best result
- Important to incorporate both the cord workout and the support muscle workout for best results
- Based on a specific idea on freestyle pulling that may be incomplete (I believe it's the right idea)
