Christina Jones (Fremont, Calif.) will represent the United States in the solo competition. Jones grabbed a fifth place finish in the 2005 World Championships, which marked her first major senior international competition. Jones will team up with Andrea Nott (San Jose, Calif.) in the duet event. The pair took fourth place finishes in both the FINA World Cup and Trophy Cup last year.
Team USA will look to reclaim the gold medal it captured in the combination event in the 2006 FINA World Trophy Cup last October. The combo always proves to be a fan-favorite as it incorporates five different routines into one seven-minute program. The gold medal marked the first earned by the U.S. in a major international competition since the 1996 Olympic Games, in which Team USA posted a perfect score.
