Guide Review - My Swim On-line Training Log for Swimmers - Swimming Social Network for Swimmers

THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE

The UK based "My Swim" on-line training log for swimmers has the feel of Facebook or Twitter (it can be linked to an existing Facebook account). It is a way to track your swimming on a social network designed for that purpose.

The home page asks the question: "How far did you swim recently?" You can enter total distance (meters or yards), the swim location, the date, how long it took to swim, training notes, comments, and an effort rating (one to five stars). You can enter just distance, or you can save as much of the other notes as desired. You then add the swim to your log book. Depending upon your settings, your logbook is shared with everyone, with friends and teammates, or is kept private.

You can look back at, and edit, old workouts. You can see a summary view of distance swum by week, month, or year. You can follow your friends and teammates swimming to see how they are doing, too.

Other pages within a swimmer's My Swim account are:

  • Messages - Direct messages between you and other members of My Swim
  • LogBook - A list of recent swims
  • Photos - Pictures you upload, currently sorted as Personal, Club, and Pool
  • Slogs - Swimming-specific Blogs on My Swim
  • Find Stuff - Locate people, clubs, and pools to follow
  • Followers - People following your swimming
My Swim also shows swimming-related news headlines (looks like an RSS feed to me). Click on the headline and you are sent to the full story.

The My Swim site is still being developed. It is functional now, and is worth a look, if you are interested in using an on-line logbook and social networking.
